Police in Los Angeles were called out to actress Mischa Barton's home to deal with a "medical issue" on Wednesday, according to a LAPD spokesperson.

Cops were asked to visit the former O.C. star's home in L.A. after Barton reportedly rang for assistance on a non-911 number.

A patrol car picked the star up from her home and escorted her to an unknown location, according to Access Hollywood.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department tells the website that police are "currently assisting" the actress.

Further details of the "medical issue" were not available as WENN went to press, but the spokesperson insists no other people were involved in the incident.
