Ugly Betty star America Ferrera hates shopping so much she is "afraid" of buying her own clothes.

The actress is surrounded by the world of fashion while filming her role in the hit series, about fictional New York style magazine Mode.

Ferrera plays style-blind employee Betty and, like her character, she can't stand visits to the shops.

She says, "I'm the total antithesis of a shopaholic, I really am. I'm afraid of shopping. I don't like to shop. I don't like being in stores... I've never enjoyed shopping since I was young. It's just not something that I like to do."
