During a visit to a Chicago restaurant with some "Public Enemies" co-stars, Johnny Depp left a waiter a $4,000 tip, according to Access Hollywood.

Depp, co-star Marion Cotillard and director Michael Mann ate at Gibsons Steakhouse around 11:30 p.m. Depp paid the bill, reportedly $4,400, at about 2:30 a.m. Depp left the sizable sum to make sure the waiter who stayed so late into the night was compensated for his time.

Depp and his friends ordered items including shrimp cocktails, Clams Casino, and some expensive bottles of wine.

The waiter, Mohammed A. Sekhani, told RadarOnline, "I have worked with a lot of stars like Sean Connery and Robert De Niro but Johnny Depp is my favorite He is a very soft spoken guy who is very charming and sweet -- when I wait for him he doesn't like to be too fussed over and is not in any way demanding."
