Johnny Depp arrived at the premiere of "Public Enemies" in Los Angeles yesterday. In the film, Depp plays Depression-era gangster John Dillinger. Christian Bale also stars. See more photos after the jump...

While filming "Public Enemies," Depp learned a bit about his stepfather. Depp was surprised to hear his stepdad had been locked up in Stateville Correctional Center near Joliet, Illinois - the very prison chosen as a location for the film.

According to Christian Bale, he and Depp didn't really get to know each other while making "Public Enemies." He explained, "I met him at the script read-through. We chatted for 5 or 10 minutes. Other than that, I had two scenes with him...I have at tendency to not really wish to talk unless we're doing the scene. I enjoy it that way."
