Cher is joining Christina Aguilera in the contemporary musical "Burlesque," according to Variety. Cher will play a former dancer, Tess, who struggles to keep a nightclub open on Sunset Boulevard. Aguilera will play a smalltown girl who comes of age at the burlesque club.

Cher is expected to sing in the film, a first for the pop star. Production begins in November.
