Amy Winehouse wants to move to the Caribbean - she has submitted an application to become a permanent resident of St Lucia.

The Rehab singer escaped to the island in 2008 in a bid to tackle her alcohol and drug demons and escape the constant paparazzi presence trailing her in London.

Now she hopes to swap England for the Caribbean for good as she waits to hear if her residency is accepted by the island nation's authorities.

An official tells British newspaper the News of the World, "We are aware of Amy wanting to live here on a permanent basis. We have received an application and are looking into it."
