Pharrell Williams' protegee and Rihanna look-a-like Teyana Taylor has blasted reports her friendship with shamed pop star Chris Brown is all part of a PR stunt, branding the rumors "crazy".

The 18-year-old singer sent gossips into a spin when she was spotted with Brown at the NBA Championship game in Orlando, Florida on Sunday night sporting a Rihanna-style mohawk and sunglasses - with some media outlets even mistaking her for the Umbrella hitmaker.

She was left furious with the mix-up and now she's angry reports are claiming she's hanging out with Brown to boost his profile following his fall from grace in February, when he was arrested on allegations of assault.

She tells TMZ.com Brown is "like a brother" to her and she supports him "no matter what", adding of the publicity rumors, "(That's) the craziest thing I've ever heard."

And Taylor insists she's not copying anyone's fashion sense: "I've always dressed like that. I've always had style... I've had that mohawk now for months."

Brown is facing two charges relating to the pre-Grammy Awards fight with Rihanna, which reportedly left the Bajan beauty black and blue.

Last week, Rihanna was subpoenaed to testify against Brown in his upcoming trial.
