Rock wild-child Peaches Geldof has blasted youngsters who idolize clean-cut star Miley Cyrus - insisting she is a better role model because she has had a "real" upbringing.

The daughter of former Boomtown Rats singer Bob Geldof courts controversy with her party lifestyle, alleged drug taking, and whirlwind marriage to Max Drummey, which ended in divorce after just six months. She was questioned by security chiefs at a London store in 2006 on suspicion of shoplifting, and was photographed topless and showing off her 20 tattoos on a beach earlier this year.

However, Geldof is adamant young women will benefit more by watching her mistakes than idolizing stars such as churchgoing 16-year-old Cyrus - because the Disney star's rise to fame was manufactured.

Geldof says, "Maybe I'm a better role model than people like Miley Cyrus. These girls that have been upheld as role models who are literally just girls who have been ferried from place to place, media trained, told what to do and just like complete veneers of people - people who are not even real."

"I've made mistakes, now I've come up from that and I've really bettered myself. I did my growing up in the spotlight and that is kind of difficult but I was born into it. It used to be something I had so much fun with, it was tumultuous. And now I'm like a woman now."
