Who is Mandy Moore? Aside from being the 90's teen pop star with the debut hit release "So Real" in 1999, when it comes to the singer's recording career, she has been living life and pursuing her career on her own terms. As we have watched Moore mature in the public eye she has been pretty low key, except when there's inquiring news about her personal life.
One of the many recent changes in Moore's life is the fact that she is now a "Mrs." and is newly married to fellow musician Ryan Adams. Other changes can also be marked in her musical direction. While industry peers such as Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera have taken predictable dance music routes, Moore has striven for unpredictability.

This is more than evident with Moore's new sixth studio release "Amanda Leigh." The new title, named after her proper given name, marks her tenth year as an active member of the music industry. "Amanda Leigh" follows Moore in her new territory and developing role as singer-songwriter. Moore is no longer a major label machine act. She is now an independent recording artist signed to Indie label Storefront Records, which has allowed for a more controlled and organic approach in regards to the new path that her music career has taken.
"Amanda Leigh," as the title suggests, is a straightforward release inspired by unlikely artistic sources eschewing any pretention and bubblegum sensibilities associated with Moore's 90's past. Country-alternative sounds are embraced here with light 70's progressive rock instrumentation and vocal harmonizing, which clearly makes it an easy listen displaying her artistic range.
If the idea of classic rock mixed with pop sounds inviting - then Mandy Moore's "Amanda Leigh" is worth a listen.
