Jessica Biel is struggling to land movie roles and has moved to New York City with boyfriend Justin Timberlake to try and kickstart her acting career on the Broadway stage. The 27-year-old actress complains she has landed few auditions since grabbing a big part, opposite Edward Norton, in 2006 movie The Illusionist - and she even took off to England to give her career a boost as the star of Noel Coward comedy Easy Virtue.
But that film flopped there last year and has received a limited release in the U.S. And Biel's most recent film, Powder Blue, has gone straight to DVD.
Biel insists her good looks are partly to blame, telling Allure magazine, "Yeah, (my looks) really (are) a problem. I have to be blunt. I'm in there with everybody else, fighting for the good parts. Yes, The Illusionist has made a difference - but a huge, massive difference, so I can pick and choose what I want? No. I just want an opportunity. If you don't like the audition, don't hire me! But if you don't want to even see me - that's hurtful. And why? You know nothing about me!"
Biel was recently spotted house hunting with Timberlake in New York's Tribeca neighborhood, prompting rumors the couple is planning a permanent move to the Big Apple.
But she insists she is making the drastic move from Hollywood to Manhattan to try her hand at theater, adding, "I'm here (in New York) because I'm interested in theater."
Fans in Los Angeles will get the chance to see Biel as a thespian this summer when she takes to the stage at the Hollywood Bowl as part of a one-off "Guys & Dolls" production.
Megan Fox recently complained of having the same "good looks" problem that Jessica has.
