Miley Cyrus donned her running shoes for good causes this weekend - the teen was among stars who joined in a charity event to raise money for cancer research.

The Hannah Montana singer/actress kicked off the Revlon Run/Walk for Women in Los Angeles on Saturday, which saw 50,000 participants come together to take part in the event.

Cyrus, who joined in with her mom Tish, told the crowd, "Think of all the money that you've raised by working together. And you guys have been doing it 16 years, that's as old as me. So this is pretty amazing, to have a foundation that has been working for so long and just as many people are here. The Revlon Run/Walk is seriously amazing, so make sure you guys keep it up. We'll keep it going no matter how long it takes until all of our sisters are safe from these cancers."

Other stars who joined in the run included breast cancer survivor Christina Applegate and Desperate Housewives actress Marcia Cross.

Earlier this month, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Jennifer Connelly and Ciara were among stars who took part in the New York leg of the Run/Walk fundraiser.
