The season finale of Fringe promises many answers and new questions. The second season has already been assured, so there's plenty of room to tease things for next year. One thing we know for sure though is that Leonard Nimoy has been hired to play William Bell, the series long-alleged conspirator.
"I have done one scene in what will be the final episode of Fringe for this season, introduced as the character named William Bell, who was talked about in earlier episodes," Nimoy said. "I have agreed to do two more in the next season, we'll see where it goes from there."
Fringe marks Nimoy's longest run on series TV since Mission: Impossible. "It's a wonderful opportunity because it's a blank canvas. The characters are still being developed and discovered, so I'm looking forward to that. But, I have no plans to do a series. Maybe an occasional episode of Fringe."
The connection did come when Nimoy filmed his role in the new Star Trek movie for J.J. Abrams, who created and produces Fringe. "When they tell me J.J. Abrams is on the phone, I have to take the call."
The season finale of Fringe airs Tuesday night on Fox.
