Maury PovichLOS ANGELES (AP) — Maury Povich's daytime talk show is joining in a national campaign to prevent teen and unplanned young adult pregnancy.

Povich and his show are working with a nonprofit organization on the multimedia campaign aimed at educating young people about the health and social consequences of pregnancy.

The effort by the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy will include themed segments on "Maury," public service announcements and events, and a panel moderated by Povich next week in Washington.

The campaign kicks off on May 6, designated as a national day to prevent teen pregnancy. The U.S. teen birth rate rose in the past few years after a long period of decline.
