Jamie Lynn Spears' boyfriend Casey Aldridge has been hospitalized after a car accident in Louisiana.

The 20-year-old was rushed to the emergency room after the incident in the early hours of Sunday. Police have charged him with careless operation of a vehicle, according to People.com.

A family friend tells the website that Aldridge suffered a cracked skull and has been "in and out" of consciousness, but adds: "It's not as serious as we thought at first."

Spears rushed to be by her boyfriend's side at the University of Mississippi Medical Center following news of the crash. No further information is available as WENN goes to press.

The couple shocked the world in 2007 when it was announced Britney's little sister was pregnant at the age of 16. Last summer she gave birth to a baby daughter, Maddie.
