Veteran actor Jack Nicholson has filed suit against a Hollywood producer over allegations he owes the star more than $1.2 million.

Nicholson filed papers at Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday claiming he offered the money to former studio executive Mark Canton to help him cover an outstanding bank loan.

However the star alleges Canton has yet to repay any of the borrowed money, according to TMZ.com.

Nicholson is suing for the total of the loan plus interest.
