Rachel McAdams dreams of raising her family on a farm because she believes children can learn important life lessons from barnyard animals.

The star enjoyed a humble upbringing in Ontario, Canada, where she still has a home close to her parents.

The 30-year-old, who is dating actor Josh Lucas, has yet to have kids of her own - but she hopes one day her children are in touch with nature so they can better understand life at an early age.

She tells Marie Claire magazine, "I would give it a good shot for a while. I grew up in a small town, with a small backyard and raspberry bushes. My parents had a garden, but it was very basic. I think one thing that kids who grow up on farms really have going for them is they have exposure to death and birth in a totally different way. I think it takes away a little but of the mystery and a little but of the fear, and I do wish I had that."
