Michael Jackson's classic Thriller album has been voted the greatest record of all time. The poll, organized by MTV, places the 1982 hit in first place - seeing off competition from Guns N' Roses' Appetite for Destruction in third place, Radiohead's OK Computer at four and Nirvana's Nevermind coming in fifth.
The biggest shock in the survey of 40,000 fans was the placing of lesser-known British singer Craig David at number two with his 2001 album Born To Do it. The surprising entry has led to fears that MTV bosses could have once again fallen victim to the 'Rickrolling' phenomenon.
Last year fans of 1980s pop star Rick Astley launched an internet campaign spreading the star's music across the web and the efforts culminated in Astley being award the Best Act Ever prize at the MTV Europe Awards in November.
The rest of the top ten included entries from British rockers Oasis, U2, Arctic Monkeys and Amy Winehouse.
