Lindsay Lohan Blames Media Scrutiny For Stalled Acting Career
The star is frequently in and out of the headlines for her allegedly turbulent romance with girlfriend Samantha Ronson, as well as verbal run-ins with her father.
But the 22-year-old actress, who has spent time behind bars and in rehab for drug and alcohol issues, insists she is no longer the party girl she used to be and she's simply trying to focus her energies on her stalling movie career.
She is urging critics to leave her and DJ Ronson alone and stay out of her personal life because she just wants to do "positive" things with her fame.
Lohan tells E! Online, "They need to stop saying we're fighting. People (are) telling lies about me to her and all this garbage. I'm really a good person and I have a good heart and just want to work. The only reason I go to clubs is to hear Samantha spin or be normal. I don't drink, I don't do drugs and I don't lie. I love to act and write and be creative, and I want to help people by playing characters that can send a positive message out to whomever may need it."
And Lohan is also fed up with the obsessive devotees that buy into all the tabloid gossip about her - claiming they are the ones fuelling the press interest in her love life.
She adds, "All the sicko fans and the noise is so distracting... If (only) people would just stop judging me and accusing me and making me out to be this aloof, spoiled, ungrateful and unprofessional person that I am not and could never be."
Lohan has completed just one movie - the upcoming Labor Pains - since 2007 flop I Know Who Killed Me, and recently lost out on the lead role in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. She also pulled out of Dylan Thomas biopic The Edge of Love, and was replaced by Sienna Miller.
In a recent interview, the actress revealed she's working on a new movie with Oscar winner Sean Penn."
