Slideshows Hot or Not? TV Recaps Fashion Interviews Celeb Birthdays
After nearly a two-month hiatus (who else is tired of the random breaks this show takes?), "One Tree Hill" graced our television screens once again. Just in time for an early St. Patrick's Day celebration, the second half of the season gave no reason to raise our glasses in a toast.
Lame. Expecting the show to begin with a few of its typical "get more bang for your buck" moments, I was horrified to find myself actually semi-bored! Too much time was spent on Lucas and Peyton's baby situation. While I think it's extremely sad this couple has yet another problem to trudge through, it seemed only too predictable to expect something to go wrong with the pregnancy. Considering most of us held our breath during the last Petyon-cancer-clif hanger, it would have been much more entertaining to see the couple endure something either really positive or extremely off the wall. What truly makes OTH the show that it is, are the unexpected events that flow one after another. The moments that make our jaws drop, our cell phone texts increase and Facebook statuses change - in a good way.
Was it the producer's purpose to make Julian and Brooke's "relationship" - if you would you even call it that - feel so rushed? If so, they succeeded. While I agree using the L word was jumping at the bit, was it too out of character for Julian? Could he really be IN love Brooke rather than just infatuated? Since when did Julian become the knight in shining armor? Maybe he has put on a false bravado to get further into Lucas' movie success. Only time will tell.
When's the last time we saw the Naley clan hit a marriage barrier? Psycho Nanny Carrie doesn't count. Despite the drawn out storyline there, it wasn't so much a battle for the happy couple as it was for Dan and Haley in their own unique ways. During Haley's surprise 7th anniversary celebration, she introduced the idea of moving closer to Nathan while he is on the basketball team. What happened to Haley's dreams? It seemed all too random that she would desire to pick up and move especially when her best friend is pregnant with a wedding in the works.
Guilt seemed to be a common theme threaded throughout the episode. While Dan Scott's admitted his guilt is beyond him along with the murder, Millie has yet to forgive herself for her irrational behavior. Mouth's pleading for Millie to come home went ignored as Millie drove back to New York. With her glasses back in Tree Hill, she may now be seeing through different eyes. Where the producers decide to take this story should lead to something exciting entertaining.
Overall, there was very little consistent storylines, which was probably the reason for the random movie-like title frames. At one point the show interrupted the flow several times only to focus on the same Peyton-baby story. At this point, I still crave a little bit of reality. How come everyone can sit around and not work or worry about money? (Yes, it's reality talking). Storylines could be made more interesting even with the hint of a normal post-college graduate problem. We'll see what next week holds for Tree Hill's building story.
