The star, who owns a property in California, has completed just one movie - the upcoming Labor Pains - since 2007's I Know Who Killed Me, and is due to begin filming "Dare To Love Me" in the coming months.

She recently lost out on the leading role in director Tim Burton's adaptation of Alice in Wonderland to acting newcomer Mia Wasikowska, but insists she's not bitter about missing out on the project.

She says, "That didn't work out. It is what it is. You're not right for the part, and that's it. I can take it, I'm a big girl."

But the 21 year old reveals the lack of film roles have left her uncertain of her financial future - admitting even she is not immune to the effects of the current downturn in the global economy.

She tells America's Nylon magazine, "It's scary when you realize, 'Oh my God, I'm not working. And (I) have a house to pay for now.'"
