NEW YORK (AP) — Broadway theaters will dim their lights Wednesday in honor of actor Ron Silver who died Sunday after a two-year battle with esophageal cancer.
Theater marquees will be dimmed for one minute at 8 p.m., the traditional starting time for evening performances of Broadway shows.
Silver won a 1988 best-actor Tony Award for performance in David Mamet's "Speed-the-Plow" and appeared in such plays as "Hurlyburly" by David Rabe and the comedy "Social Security."
From 1991 to 2000, he was president of Actors' Equity Association.
Silver was 62.
