John StamosE.R. will live on after this year's emotional show finale - TV bosses are planning a spin-off series starring John Stamos.

Former stars including George Clooney, Julianna Margulies and Noah Wyle are returning for the final season of the long-running hospital drama, which will wrap with its last episode airing on April 2nd. But network chiefs at NBC are plotting to keep the spirit of the show alive, with a new series centered around Stamos' character Dr. Tony Gates.

A source tells the National Enquirer, "This spin-off is the network's secret weapon, and they're hoping it will draw a new generation of viewers. Everything's under tight wraps. The script is still untitled and is being worked on as The John Stamos Project."
