Pop star Ashlee Simpson-Wentz is returning to work full-time with a role in the remake of TV hit Melrose Place - just four months after becoming a mother.
The 24-year-old and her rocker husband Pete Wentz welcomed son Bronx Mowgli in November, and the star has been enjoying an extended break from her singing and acting careers. But Simpson-Wentz, who previously starred in a recurring role on TV's 7th Heaven in 2002, will follow up a recent guest appearance on crime drama CSI: NY by taking on the part of Violet, a small town girl with a sex-kitten alter ego in the updated version of Melrose Place.
Confirming the rumors, she tells the New York Post, "I'm thrilled to be joining the cast of Melrose Place and look forward to being a part of its new generation of residents." The original show, which ran from 1992 to 1999, launched the careers of Marcia Cross and Kristin Davis and was notorious for its sensationalist storylines and extravagant characters.
Simpson-Wentz's CSI: NY episode, in which she appears with her Fall Out Boy spouse, is due to air on March 18th.
