Kimora Lee Simmons and Djimon Hounsou reportedly enjoyed a wedding ceremony in Africa last summer - but the nuptials aren't legally binding as the Baby Phat designer was not yet divorced.

The couple, who are expecting their first child together, began dating after Simmons split from her rap mogul husband Russell Simmons in 2006.

And the pair decided to celebrate their love with an unofficial "wedding" in Hounsou native Benin, Africa, according to the New York Daily News.

A source tells the publication, "She went whole hog with the African theme - there were African drums, a traditional ceremony with dancers... they even had a hut!"

The couple reportedly took Simmons' two daughters from her marriage to Simmons - Ming, nine, and Aoki, six - along to the ceremony and enjoyed a romantic honeymoon in Paris, France afterward.

However, the union cannot be legally recognized in the U.S. as Simmons' divorce was not finalized until January.

The couple is reportedly planning a second ceremony in America later this year to make their marriage official.
