Emma WatsonEmma Watson has denied rumors she is to enroll at Yale University - blaming counterfeit profiles on social networking sites for spreading false information about her academic future.

Reports emerged earlier this week stating the Harry Potter star had told fans she was successful in her application to the prestigious U.S. institution via her page on the website Twitter.com.

But the 18-year-old is adamant the claims are completely untrue.

A statement on her official website reads: "There have been several rumors spreading recently that Emma has accepted a place at Yale University after 'telling her fans via her Twitter account'. We would like to inform you that Emma does not have a Twitter account and that these rumors are false.

"Emma is still trying to decide whether she wants to attend university in the U.K. or the U.S.A. and hasn't accepted any placements at this time."
