Disney Bosses Brush Off Jonas Brothers' Movie Critics
The trio claimed the second spot on the chart at the weekend with three-day sales totaling $12.7 million, falling only behind Tyler Perry's Madea Goes to Jail.
However, movie critics have scoffed at the band's big screen debut, which was predicted the to earn as much as $25 million, far less than Disney's hugely popular concert film Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds, which earned $31.1 million last year in its opening weekend.
Disney distribution president Chuck Viane insists studio executives are pleased with the Jonas' debut, blaming lower figures on the limited number of 3D theater auditoriums which can hold an average of only 240 people.
Viane says attendance was "very, very good."
