U2 Play Rooftop Gig In London
Irish rockers U2 treated fans to a free concert on Friday by performing on top of a building in central London. The One hit-makers played a 20 minute set on the roof of the BBC's Broadcasting House in front of 5,000 fans gathered in the street below, to debut music from their new album No Line On The Horizon. Police officers were forced to step in to control the crowds as the number of onlookers swelled.
U2 followed in the footsteps of The Beatles with the rooftop gig - the performance echoed the The Fab Four's 1969 concert at record label Apple's London headquarters.
