Hip-hop icon Russell Simmons has teamed up with Wal-Mart to launch a new budget fashion range.

The Def Jam Records co-founder and former Phat Farm head has taken charge of American Classic, with items priced between $9.99 and $29. The line, featuring items including knit and woven shirts, sweater vests, denims and casual sports shoes, made its debut at a Chicago, Illinois Wal-Mart on Sunday, and will be stocked in a total of 350 stores across the States.

Simmons stepped down as CEO of Phat Farm in 2007 and has been focusing his fashion efforts on his other brands Russell Simmons-Argyleculture and Atman.
