Troubled singer Amy Winehouse has been admitted to a hospital after collapsing in the Caribbean. The hitmaker was taken to a medical facility on the island of St. Lucia on Friday night after suddenly falling ill.

A representative for the star claims she collapsed after running out of medication she had been using in her ongoing battle against drugs. Winehouse has been enjoying a sunshine break in the resort since December following numerous health problems throughout 2008, which included a stint in rehab and several prolonged stays in hospital.

She flew out to the island in December following a stint in a London medical facility after reportedly suffering an adverse reaction to prescription medication.

Winehouse's spokesperson confirmed she is recovering well and is expected to be released from hospital shortly.
