Terrence HowardTerrence Howard has retracted comments he made about Chris Brown following the singer's felony charges on Sunday, insisting he would never have been so "insensitive" if he knew why paparazzi were asking him about the R&B star.

The Iron Man star appeared to be supporting troubled Brown, who was under arrest following an alleged fight with his girlfriend Rihanna, when he talked about his friend outside a Los Angeles restaurant - but he insists he had no idea the singer had been accused of allegedly beating up a woman. And when asked for his thoughts about Brown, the puzzled actor simply said, "Chris is a great guy. He'll be all right. And Rihanna knows he loves her. She'll be all right. Just everybody's got to get out of their way."

Howard now insists he was wrong to make the comments. A statement from the star reads, "When they asked me about Chris Brown, I was in no way aware of what he had been accused of. Had I known, I would have never had said something so insensitive."

Brown turned himself into police on Sunday night and was charged with making criminal threats.
