Top 10 Date Movies That Aren't Romantic Comedies
10. Bram Stoker's Dracula
True this isn't your typical date movie but what could be more romantic than a man, wronged and betrayed, vowing to love his woman for eternity even if it means giving up his soul? Add that to the sensual cinematography and the sexy orgy scene, which includes a two-headed topless female vampire and another vampire chick that just happens to be played by the hottest woman in the world, Monica Bellucci, and you've got yourself one heck of a date night.
9. Spiderman II
The good guy gets the girl in this one and saves the day. This movie has the best villain of the series and is shot in a classic Sam Raimi style. It's got it all, laughs, drama, action and a little horror. It's enough to get your blood pumping and your heart thumping. And that's really what a date movie should do.
8. Raiders of the Lost Ark
This film features the most perfectly written script, possibly of all time, perhaps with the only exception being "Casablanca." It also features Harrison Ford at his prime and sexiest. Karen Allen may not be the typical Hollywood beauty but her spunk and believability make you root for her. The action sequences are mind-blowingly great, including the best action chase sequence ever put on film, which involves a horse, a truck and some of the most incredible stunts ever put on celluloid. Plus we all learn a valuable lesson in the end: If a supernatural event happens which causes people to start melting just close your eyes and you will be fine.
7. Out of Sight
George Clooney is super sexy and charming and Ms. JLo gives one of the most believable and enjoyable performances of her career in this snappy action thriller. The story is smart, the pace is quick and the dialog is vivaciously satisfying. Add to this fun mix a band of well-drawn side characters and some great plot twists plus an amazingly sultry sex scene between Clooney and Lopez and you've got yourself one of the best date movies ever.
6. Brotherhood of the Wolf
True it's foreign and subtitled but it's a small price to pay for such an amazing and sexy film. The world's most beautiful woman, Monica Bellucci, stars as a witch with murder on her mind. The kung-fu medieval fight sequences are amazing and the cinematography is lush so if you don't feel like reading, don't worry it'll still make sense and get you in the mood for good lovin'.
5. La Femme Nikita
Another foreign film with subtitles but this one has very little dialog and plenty of action to keep you interested. And who can resist the story of a woman torn between a man who hardly knows her and the one man who knows too much about her? Add to this the fact that she is forced to become an assassin in order to avoid prison and you've got the perfect formula for being entertained and turned on.
4. Casino Royale
This one needs very little justification. Men love whenever the movie cover says Bond or 007 anywhere on the case and women love the eyes and upper torso of Daniel Craig. This really is a no brainer of a date movie. The hot and dangerous love affair between Bond and Vesper Lynd gives new dimension to Bond's motivations and back-story. He loved one woman so deeply that he chose never to love anything or anyone, ever again, and became a stone cold killer out for vengeance instead. Only true love could make a man this crazy.
This one has everything men and women love: action and romance, but not in that order. James Cameron pulled out all the stops for this epic movie. He's got every imaginable plot point and character motivation jam-packed into a three hour mega-adventure. And by the end of the film you really believe they're hearts will go on.
2. Basic Instinct
A very hot Sharon Stone in an eye opening, leg-spreading power scene, a bi-sexual relationship and very dangerous murder mystery plot. Sexy, strong and intriguing, it caused a major controversy when it first came out. By today's standards it's still not tame.
1. Mr. and Mrs. Smith
In the film that started a very steamy real-life relationship Brad and Angelina put all their obvious chemistry on display for our enjoyment. This movie is just plain hot. It gets under your skin and makes you want to re-enact every scene, even if it means renovating your kitchen when you're through.
