Jennifer Hudson's Tearful Acceptance Speech
The singer secluded herself from the public in October, after the murders of her mother, brother and nephew, and gave American audiences a thrill with her first performance since the incident at last week's Superbowl. Hudson continued her triumphant return to public life when she took the stage to accept the award for Best R&B Album from Whitney Houston. And she admitted that receiving the honor from one of her idols made finding the right words to thank her colleagues and loved ones much more challenging.
She said, "I don't really know what to say. First of all, I've got Whitney Houston presenting to me and, wow, I'm just in awe right now. But I would first of all like to thank God, who has brought me through. I would like to thank my family, those in heaven and those who are here today. (My fiancé) David (Otunga), who's here with me tonight. My sisters, who are here. I just don't know where to start. Everybody, thank you all, thank you."
