Slideshows Hot or Not? TV Recaps Fashion Interviews Celeb Birthdays
The Oceanic 6 are nowhere to be found for the newest episode of Lost titled 'Jughead.' Strangely, it did not suffer in the least without Jack, Kate, Sun, Sayid, Hurley and Ben. Instead it focused entirely upon two intertwining stories, that of the Losties left on the Island and Desmond in the present day. It starts out with a scene that probably made most fans sigh with happiness: the birth of Desmond and Penny's son. That estranged and doomed couple was always the most believable and genuine on the show, so it is wonderful to see them married and settled in a happy family now. Then again, this is Lost, so it will probably all be wrecked very soon. Skip forward to present day when Desmond tells their son, Charlie (Awwww), about the United Kingdom, and Penny tries unsuccessfully to persuade him not to look for Daniel's mother. Be careful, spoilers as you read on!
Meanwhile Daniel, Miles, Charlotte, and a group of red shirts are waiting by the creek to meet up with the others. No one appears, and Miles recognizes a set of traps about to go off. The poor nameless extras go boom, and the three Freighters get taken by a group of Others. They are not the Others we know, however, except for Mr. Richard Alpert who is still ageless and somewhat in charge. Due to a warning from Miles the ghost whisperer, Daniel puts together what year they are in and figures out that there is a bomb on the Island. He convinced Richard to let him see it, and promises he means no harm because he's in love with Charlotte and would never hurt her. It is just like this show to be so sweet at the most random of times.
Elsewhere on the Island, Sawyer and Juliet have met up with Locke and have two Others prisoner. Juliet quickly realizes they are her people because they all speak Latin. The language of the enlightened. She gently manages to persuade one of the soldiers to bring them to Richard, but when he starts to divulge the answer, the other one viciously snaps his neck and escapes. This soldier is an angry, arrogant blue eyed Brit who needs a serious attitude adjustment. It should therefore not be a surprise, considering they are now in the 50's, that this Other is actually young Charles Widmore. Locke comes to speak to Richard and offhandedly comments that Richard should come see him when he's born. Nice call back there. So maybe Jacob didn't send Richard to Locke … he just went because of this weird time-space drama. Locke is only chosen because he himself told Richard he was. Yes. That's really confusing. Welcome to Lost.
Desmond gets to London and cannot find anything on Faraday, but he goes into Daniel's lab to try and get answers. He learns that Daniel was trying to work on time travel, and hurt some 'poor girl' named Teresa Spencer. She is currently in some kind of extended coma, her brain jumping between times, and her sister tells Desmond that Charles Widmore is Daniel's benefactor. This is where Desmond gets both stupid and awesome all at once, because he storms right into Widmore's office and demands to know where Daniel's mom is. He refuses to answer questions about Penny. Go Des! Momma Faraday is in Los Angeles. She is totally Ms. Hawkins, the time lady, just you wait! Des tries to lie to Penny so they don't have to go to Los Angeles, but she's through it and tells him they're going. Yay Penny!
Daniel advises this pretty young Other, Ellie, that they need to seal up the flaw on the bomb and bury it somewhere. She argues with him, and apparently she 'looks like someone' he knows. Maybe his mother at a young age? He reveals they are from the future, and Sawyer and Juliet show up right about then to 'save' him from her. It is right then that the Island starts to shimmer again, and the Others camp disappears completely. Daniel runs over to Charlotte, who smiles and seems fine for a few minutes … before falling over bleeding from everywhere seconds later. Oh no! Charlotte! We'll never find out why she said she was born on the Island if she dies now! Next week, the Oceanic 6 are back and Desmond might be bringing Penny right to Ben. Uh oh.
Lost is on ABC Wednesday's at 9 PM EST.
