Tom CruiseTom Cruise suffered another red-faced TV appearance on Friday night - after he was forced to sing and was quizzed about his flatulence habits by controversial British host Jonathan Ross.

Cruise appeared on disgraced U.K. TV personality Ross' comeback chatshow - which returned to British screens after a three month hiatus.

Ross was suspended by bosses at the BBC after he and comic Russell Brand were slammed for leaving "grossly offensive" voicemail messages on former Fawlty Towers star Andrew Sachs' answer machine during a live radio broadcast in October.

Cruise - who was in Britain promoting his latest film Valkyrie - was roped in to appear on the show in a bid to entice viewers to tune in.

But the Hollywood superstar was left squirming in his seat as Ross ordered him to showcase his vocal talents after he admitted he would love to appear in a big screen musical.

An embarrassed Cruise muttered an expletive before belting out a line from Elvis Presley's hit "Hound Dog" and then jokingly pretending to make his exit from the show.

And the awkward demands didn't stop there - Ross went on to ask a stunned Cruise if he passed wind while sharing a bed with wife Katie Holmes.

It's not the first time Cruise has performed an Elvis Presley tune on a top-rated chatshow - he left The Tonight Show's Jay Leno speechless after breaking into a rendition of The King's hit "Blue Suede Shoes" in December.
