Last week a live audience at a Las Vegas nightclub watched in horror as Joaquin Phoenix fell off stage, and performed his rap songs earlier. Phoenix retired from acting last October and made a decision to pursue his new passion - Hip-hop. While Joaquin isn't the worst rapper in the world, he isn't the greatest rapper either. His rapping style is similar to Kevin Federline, who retired from back-up dancing and Britney Spears to pursue a career in Hip-hop also. Neither Phoenix or Federline is the next Jay-Z or Lil Wayne. Both have their own unique rap style. But who's a better rapper? Jo-Pho or K-Fed.
Rhyme skills/Lyrics
Joaquin Phoenix has only been rapping for a few months now, so his rhyme skills are how you say - Awful. His rhyme skills are amateur at best. In fact it seems like he makes up words as he goes along which make no sense or even rhyme. Kevin Federline on the other hand has been rapping for over two years. His rhyme skills aren't that bad for a former back-up dancer, as seen in his rap song "PopoZão":
"Girl, don't you worry about all the dough,
because a cat is coming straight out of the "NO",
ready to rock those shows all the way to Rio.
Bring that Brazil booty on the floor."
Edge: K-Fed
Voice
Joaquin Phoenix doesn't sound like a rapper yet. He sounds like the cookie monster when he raps. The sound of his voice is irritating and makes you cringe when you hear him. Kevin Federline does have a rapper's voice, even though sometimes he sounds like he's doing his best Eminem impression.
Edge: K-Fed
Flow
Again, Federline does this better than Phoenix. Kevin does a better job at rapping to the beat. His cadence and delivery are weak, but he manages to maintain some rhythm to his rap songs. Joaquin has to be tone deaf. His cadence and delivery are way off course. He doesn't bother to rap to the beat at all. There is no rhythm in his rap song. He has no breath control and doesn't enunciate his words. It's hard to understand whatever he's saying. K-Fed wins this category easily.
Edge: K-Fed
Originality
Federline raps about things that most rappers rap about - clubs, women, and jewelry. There's no originality there. Phoenix raps about nothing. Nothing is as original as you can get.
Edge: Jo-Pho
Presence
Neither rapper has the physical presence or vocal presence on the microphone to intimidate anyone in a rap battle. Kevin Federline looks like a rapper, but people still see him as Britney's Ex. Joaquin Phoenix doesn't sound or look like a rapper. That scraggly beard, long hair, and shades aren't intimidating, they're embarrassing.

Edge: Even
Final Results
Kevin Federline is the more skilled and accomplished rapper out of the two, if that is saying much. Fans still see Joaquin Phoenix as an actor. It's hard for people to believe that an actor who was nominated for an Academy Award can quit acting and become a rapper. Either Joaquin Phoenix is really serious, crazy, or this is the biggest hoax in entertainment history.
The Winner: K-Fed
