John TravoltaPolice in the Bahamas have launched an investigation surrounding an attempt to extort money from John Travolta. The full details of the extortion plot have not been released, but a report in Bahamian newspaper The Tribune suggests police have brought two people in for questioning, and one is believed to be a politician.

Travolta's lawyers have confirmed the extortion attempt is connected to the movie star's recent loss - the actor's 16-year-old son Jett died after suffering a seizure at the family retreat in the Bahamas on January 2.

In a statement to the Jacksonville Florida Times-Union, the attorneys reveal, "Regrettably, in a time of such terrible grief, there are often a few individuals who attempt to make false claims in hopes of making millions of dollars. We will never let that happen."
