British actress Emily Blunt is the frontrunner to land the role as femme-fatale the Black Widow in the forthcoming Iron Man sequel.

The Devil Wears Prada has been name checked as director Jon Favreau's favorite to take on the part of Russian spy Natasha Romanoff in the follow-up of the 2008 blockbuster. The character transforms into comic book siren the Black Widow; an evil nemesis of Tony Stark, played by Robert Downey, Jr.

Blunt is the latest Hollywood name connected to the project, with Mickey Rourke, Tim Robbins and Sam Rockwell all reportedly in negotiations to star in the film.

The movie is scheduled to hit cinemas in summer 2010.
