LOS ANGELES (AP) — Queen Latifah, host of the People's Choice Awards, is bringing new meaning to popular choice. She's giving fans the chance to write and pick a song for her next album.
The contest, launching on Wednesday night's People's Choice ceremony on CBS, invites aspiring singer-songwriters to submit an original tune for Latifah's "Persona" album, due out this spring.
Latifah will narrow the submissions down to three next month and let fans decide the winner, who will record with the pop star and actress ("Chicago," ''The Secret Life of Bees").
Latifah says she expects the contest, conducted with People's Choice and its Web site, www.pcavote.com, to find a "fresh new voice and a hot new song."
