The Sophomore Season Of 'Gossip Girl' Has Incest Written All Over It

Gossip GirlGossip Girl is back - with a slightly less dramatic flair than when we left the Upper East Siders before Christmas break.

It seems as if everyone has had a change of heart from their previously chosen paths. Jenny (Taylor Momsen) decided it was time to be a kid again and go back to school. Serena (Blake Lively) decided to dump Aaron (John Patrick Amedori) in Buenos Aires for many reasons, the most predominant being all the negative feedback creator Josh Schwartz was receiving. And Blair (Leighton Meester) decided she was so "past" high school that she felt the need to be inducted into a pristine Colony Club of older Upper East Siders.

Back at school, Jenny saw the terrible things that Blair's minions were doing to poor little Nelly Yuki (Yin Chang). Eric (Connor Paolo) tried to convince Jenny that it wasn't her problem, but Jenny couldn't take it. Her conscious won out and she stepped in to protect a fellow classmate from being treated like a servant. After finally winning the battle of the school ground, Jenny was offered the spot as the Queen of Constance…which she politely rejected. She was sticking up for Nelly, but it looks like Nelly just wanted to fall under a different regime. After hearing that Jenny didn't want to take over Blair's post, Nelly went back to her life of indentured servitude. Jenny learned that not much changed while she didn't attend school. The only thing that did change, thank goodness, was her toned down eye makeup.

Also at school, Serena told Dan (Penn Badgley) about her break up with Aaron and the two happily reunited. That is until they ran into Rufus (Matthew Settle). Rufus told Dan he doesn't want him to be with Serena anymore. Dan gets upset, not only at the announcement, but also at the no questions asked part. Rufus was taking out all his anger towards Lily (Kelly Rutherford) on Serena and Dan, but I believe it will once again throw a kink into Dan and Serena's reunion once they find out they share a half sibling. Dan figured out the secret, but Rufus told him to let Lily tell her children because it's not Dan's secret to tell. Oh, but the trouble I'm sure he'll get in once Serena does find out about this belated little bundle of half-blood joy.

As far as that half sibling is concerned, Lily and Rufus took off looking for the approximately 20 year old boy in the greater Boston area. Those are the only facts we're left to ponder until later this season I presume.

Besides a not present (and not mentioned) Archibald, Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick) was the only member to miss the first day of school, being delivered home drunk by his uncle, Jack Bass (Desmond Harrington). He then showed up on school property smoking hash and driving Blair insane with worry. While trying to prep for her Colony Club meeting, Blair was distraught with tears of Chuck's new apathy towards her. But, once the elder ladies began bashing not only Serena, but Chuck too, she decided enough was enough and went to go rescue him from his drunken state of mind before he really hurt himself.

Chuck left his own party to go on the roof and drink alone. His aloof uncle yelled at him and he almost slipped, but Blair calmed him down and took him in his arms. Despite how much she was upset after saying 'I love you' to Chuck, she put herself out there again, proving that the girl we all love to hate really does have a soul after all.

We'll see how long that lasts once Chuck finds out she slept with his uncle. This sophomore season of "Gossip Girl" just has incest written all over it.
