Rapper Jim Jones has been handed a misdemeanor assault charge after he turned himself in to New York authorities to face questioning over an alleged brawl with members of singer Ne-Yo's entourage on Christmas Eve.

The Diplomats frontman turned up to a Big Apple police station on Monday to meet cops who are investigating the rumored fight with the So Sick hit-maker's crew, which took place at the Louis Vuitton store in Manhattan on December 24th.

Jones' lawyer Scott Leemon made arrangements for the hip-hop star to visit a station so he could be quizzed by police over the alleged altercation. And Leemon tells AllHipHop.com that Jones was charged with the misdemeanor and released on bail once he had completed a full statement. Jones has also been ordered to court to face the charge on February 4th, according to the website.

Details of the incident are still unclear, with Jones telling MTV.Com: "I don't wanna talk about that. We not doing that (talking), let's stop that right here. We above that."
