Keisha ChanteCanadian R&B singer Keisha Chante has been chosen to play Aaliyah in a movie about the late star's life. Aaliyah sold over 32 million records during her career and was nominated for five Grammy Awards before she was killed in a plane crash in the Bahamas in 2001 at the age of 22.

The currently untitled biopic will chart the late star's rise to fame and her untimely death. The film is slated for release in 2009, according to Sixshot.com.
