British rock legend Eric Clapton has earned $659,000 from an auction of 13 of his prized shotguns.

All of the weapons were engraved with the Cream veteran's initials EPC - and one pair came with a set of ornate pictures showing Clapton strumming a guitar under a tree.

A spokesman for Holt's auctioneers in Norfolk, England, says, "He sold because he has developed a preference for a particular type of gun."
