Tara Reid has checked into a rehab clinic in California, her spokesperson has confirmed. The 33-year-old star will spend Christmas and the New Year in the Promises Treatment Center in Malibu.

It is not known what she is being treated for.

Her representative, Jack Ketsoyan, tells People.com, "Tara Reid has checked herself into Promises Treatment Center. We appreciate your respect to her and her family's privacy at this time."

A friend tells People that Reid entered Promises on Tuesday: "Her friends and family are supportive of her decision. She checked in herself - it was her decision."

Back in October, the one-time notorious party girl told reporters she was now a "social drinker" after years of hitting alcohol hard. And she insisted she was never tempted to slip back to her old, wild ways:

"No. I've done it. Trust me. I've done enough for a lifetime of everything. I've had a great time. I partied. I had fun. I ate and drank whatever. I dated a million guys, but I'm so happy with where I'm at right now. I don't need to do anything anymore."
