American Pie star Chris Klein and actress girlfriend Ginnifer Goodwin have ended their relationship after two years together.

The He's Just Not That Into You star Goodwin returns to HBO's Big Love in January, and is intent on enjoying her newly-acquired single life.

A pal of the actress tells People.com that the split was mutual and amicable, and that the pair realized they wanted different things.

The source says, "In the long run, the relationship wasn't going to work."
