Lots Of Nakedness On 'How I Met Your Mother'

How I Met Your MotherMonday night's episode of How I Met Your Mother was a rebirth of sorts, at least it was for Ted (Josh Radnor). Ted finally peeled of the stigma (kinda literally) left over from his breakup with Stella by standing naked in front of Vicky, a girl who works in his office building.

Why would he do this? Because it is obvious that Ted standing nude is a metaphor for the commencement of a new life. The old Ted is gone, this is the new improved Ted that, yes, may be a little battle scared, but this Ted is not afraid to declare to the world that he is back. Or, perhaps, none of that is accurate and he just wanted to get laid. Either way, his actions can be summed up with one word: Mitch.

Mitch, you see, is already a legend. There is nothing quite that extraordinary about Mitch, unless being in five fantasy football leagues is impressive (for me, it's kind of impressive). But, after an unimpressive date with Robin (Cobie Smulders), Mitch goes all out (heh) by appearing naked in front of Robin when she re-enters the apartment after taking a phone call. It worked.

Of course, Robin's actions brought repercussions to Ted, Barney (Neil Patrick Harris), Marshall (Jason Segel), Lily (Alyson Hannigan) and even herself. Ted and Barney were impressed by the success ratio of "The Naked Man." Robin tried to defend her actions after Marshall called her a slut, by implying that the only thing ever separating her from having sex with anyone appears to be the presence of clothes -- using what might have been the longest "cough while actually speaking" in the history of that tactic. Lily defends Robin by making a list of all the reasons to have sex other than just being in a committed relationship.

By the end, all of them are faced with an interpretation of "The Naked Man." Ted, who on his first date post-Stella, uses the strategy with great success after realizing his date with Vicky is going nowhere. Lily uses it to prove her point to Marshall. Robin realizes that she has cheap sex with someone she doesn't even particularly like and Barney almost winds up in jail and is last seen roaming the streets of New York City, nude. Which proves, there is only one man that can ascend to the greatness of "The Naked Man" without the emotional baggage that can drag down a lesser person -- this man is Mitch.

And hey ... we got another quick flash forward of the scene with the goat on Ted's birthday this May.
