TwilightVampire love story Twilight has been taking a huge bite out of the U.S. box office, claiming $7 million from midnight screenings on Thursday alone.

The movie adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's cult book is almost sure to hit the number one spot on Sunday, despite competition from Miley Cyrus' new animated movie Bolt.

Movie ticket booking website Fandango.com reports it has been selling five "Twilight" tickets per second and, in a Fandango.com poll, 34 percent of moviegoers confessed they would be taking time off school and work to see the film on opening day.
