The American Idol contestant found dead outside Paula Abdul's California home attempted suicide at the same spot a year ago, according to reports. Police found the body of 30 year old Paula Godspeed, who auditioned for the reality show in 2006, in a car parked outside Abdul's house on Tuesday night. She had suffered a drug overdose.

Reports suggest Godspeed was 'obsessed' with the American Idol Judge and was a regular visitor to Abdul's Sherman Oaks neighborhood.

And now cops tell TMZ.com they were called to the Abdul residence about a year ago, because Godspeed had overdosed in the same spot.

The 46-year-old singer, who was shooting a forthcoming American Idol episode when the incident took place, released a statement on Wednesday expressing her sorrow.

It reads, "I am deeply shocked and saddened at what transpired yesterday. My heart and prayers go out to her family."
