Christina Applegate has been forced to speed up her plans to become a mom - before the threat of cancer claims her ovaries.

The star had a mastectomy in July after she was diagnosed with breast cancer, and now doctors are urging her to consider becoming a mom in the next few years because she has tested positive for a gene that increases the chances of ovarian cancer.

Applegate, who turns 37 later this month, tells TV Guide magazine, "They (doctors) suggest you kind of get on it before you're a certain age so that they can remove your ovaries. That definitely makes a big difference in my timetable. Everything has to be a process, though. It'll happen. It's just not gonna happen right now."
