'How I Met Your Mother': Weakest Episode Of Season 4
How weak? Here is the recap in eighty-five words: Everyone is at McLaren's. Marshall is upset because Ted is not upset enough about being stood up at the alter by Stella (Sarah Chalke), but all Ted wants to do is play Kool & the Gang on the jukebox. Later, at dinner, they all run into Stella at a tapas restaurant and proceed to hide under the table from her ... for all but the final scene of the episode! Robin finally convinces Ted to confront her, he almost does, but realizes he is not mad. The end.
I suppose this was the closure episode to finally lay rest to the Stella arc, but, just like the previous couple of episodes, seemed noticeably rushed. Remember, Ted proposed to this girl(!) in a season ending cliffhanger(!) and she has already been discarded into the dustbin of How I Met Your Mother's history(?). Just like after every other relationship that does not work for Ted, the next episode will be, yet again, another reboot.
This is a good thing, it is always fun to see where the direction of the show goes in these cases and let's be honest, the Stella storyline was getting stale. Perhaps this is why -- along with Chalke's contract -- the plot was quickly wrapped up. I was just hoping the reboot would have began Monday night; I supposed we will have to wait for next weeks episode titled, Not a Father's Day, which supposedly refers to a new holiday created by Barney.
