Cloris LeachmanOscar winner Cloris Leachman's Broadway career has been boosted by her appearance on hit show Dancing With The Stars - producers have reportedly reconsidered her for a role she was rejected for last year.

The 82-year-old star admitted she was "heartbroken" when she was turned down to reprise her role on hit Broadway show Young Frankenstein - the character she portrayed in the hit 1974 movie - due to fears over her age.

Producer Mel Brooks told Variety magazine at the time: "We're afraid the show... could kill (Leachman)... We don't want her to die onstage."

Leachman was booted from "Dancing With The Stars" on Tuesday after weeks of rigorous training in ballroom and Latin dance.

But Brooks has reportedly changed his mind despite her dismissal, impressed by the star's stamina in the demanding numbers.

According to Broadway gossip site Billymasters.com: "Mel has reached out to Leachman to see if they could make a deal - which I'm sure has nothing to do with the show's somewhat soft box office."

A spokesperson for Leachman tells the New York Post: "Cloris has received several interesting offers. We cannot confirm that Young Frankenstein is one of them. For the time being, Cloris is focusing all her attention on dancing."
